Ellie van Baaren
Director
A trained journalist, Ellie has worked in the magazine publishing industry for the past 10 years – five with the Custom Publishing department and 18 months with New Zealand News Ltd in London.
As editorial manager and account executive of what was then a newly-formed department, Ellie was instrumental in growing the stable from two magazines to six publications. Part of this was developing the editorial direction for what was a much larger marketing strategy, creating initial budgets, pitching to prospective clients and taking it from an idea to reality.
New Zealand News Ltd gave Ellie her first taste of a consumer publication. As Group Editor, she took the 79-year-old newspaper NZ News UK online, while launching a monthly magazine, NZinspired, in its place. Ellie was also responsible for two other information-based websites and several special publications.
Calm under pressure, flexible and decisive, Ellie has honed a keen understanding of the need to balance editorial concerns with commercial ones and employs this on each project she works on. A passion for words is a given, but Ellie's innate curiosity about the world also means she has written for and worked with a wide range of businesses.

Lia van Baaren
Executive Assistant
After seven years working for Northington Partners, a boutique investment bank, Lia brought her super organisational skills and eye for detail to
evbmedia in 2010.
A master at juggling numerous projects, deadlines and clients, she remains pleasant and easy to deal with regardless of the situation. She is the first port of call for questions and keeps everyone – including her boss! – on track.
